What to Expect on the Tour

First and foremost, this is not a “one size fits all” bike tour for tourists. The round-trip route is 45-60 kilometers (28 - 38 miles), so you must be an active cyclist with a good fitness level. Don't forget to pack those bib shorts! ;)

Here’s a glimpse of what’s in store, and here is a Strava link of what the tour might be like on the day we set off.

Meeting Point: We’ll meet at a local bike rental shop in Paris. Here is a helpful packing list to prep in advance of your travels.

The Ride: Our route starts in the heart of Paris. We will ride along the Seine riverbank, leave the city in our tracks, and ride through the incredibly scenic and peaceful Meudon and Clamart Forests, offering winding paths, lush greenery, and a true breath of nature just outside the city.

We’ll then make our way to the Chateau of Versailles, where we’ll stop at a local boulangerie (French bakery) to grab lunch items for our picnic.

Picnic at the Grand Canal: After picking up goodies, we’ll head to the Grand Canal of the Château de Versailles, where we’ll settle down for a picnic with views of the magnificent palace and gardens. It’s a perfect spot to relax, refuel, and soak in the beauty of Versailles. There are public restrooms here as well.

Return to Paris: After a relaxing break, we’ll hop back on our bikes and head back to Paris, cycling through more scenic landscapes and enjoying the journey home.

Why a Revel Rides Tour?

For me, cycling is the ultimate way to explore new places and experience the beauty of the world. I’ve lived in Paris proper for more than 13 years, and the weekly escape to nature on my bike brings me so much joy and peace.

This route from Paris to Versailles is one of my personal favorites, and I can’t wait to share it with you. The ride offers a mix of city, nature, and history, with the grand finale at the Château de Versailles—a true gem of French culture and architecture.

Action Photos Add-on: If you book your cycle tour with me (Lindsey, cyclist and photographer!), I can bring my camera and capture some action shots of you as we ride, so you’ll have professional photos to remember the experience by.
