Adventure often calls us to step outside the ordinary and embrace freedom in unexpected ways. For me, that call comes on two wheels, through the stories of my bikes, Rebel 💜 (bright purple Canyon Grizl) and Revel 🖤 (matte black Propain Tyrell). These bikes are more than just machines; they represent my spirit, my love for the outdoors, and the unique journeys that shape who I am. Here’s the story behind their names and what they mean to me.

The Spark of Rebellion: How Rebel Came to Be
When I first got into gravel biking, I wanted a bike that matched my personality: bold, a little different, and ready for adventure. That’s how Rebel was born. She’s a bright purple Canyone Grizl gravel bike, instantly noticeable and full of character. Naming her Rebel felt natural because she embodies the spirit of non-conformity I’ve always embraced.
Rebel isn’t just a bike; she’s a partner in countless adventures. From winding forest trails to dusty country roads, she has carried me through moments of exhilaration and challenge. Her vibrant color and name remind me to keep pushing boundaries and to enjoy every ride with a sense of freedom.
Rebel taught me that adventure doesn’t have to fit a mold. It’s about finding joy in the unexpected and making your own path.
Revel: Finding Freedom in the Mountains
After many adventures with Rebel, I finally met Revel. She’s a Propain gravel bike, sleek and matte black, living in the Alps where the mountains call to me. I named her Revel because when I’m with her in the mountains, I feel a deep sense of freedom and appreciation for life.
Revel represents a different kind of adventure — one that’s quieter, more reflective, and connected to nature’s grandeur. Riding her through alpine trails, I experience moments of clarity and gratitude. The name Revel captures that feeling perfectly: to revel in the moment, to celebrate health, love, and the thrill of exploration.
Revel reminds me that adventure is not just about speed or distance, but about being present and soaking in the beauty around me.
The Stories These Bikes Tell
Both Rebel and Revel have their own stories, shaped by the places we’ve been and the experiences we’ve shared. They are extensions of my personality and values, each reflecting a different side of my adventurous spirit.
Rebel’s stories are full of energy, spontaneity, and breaking away from the usual.
Revel’s stories are about connection, mindfulness, and the awe of nature’s vastness.
Together, they show how adventure can take many forms, and how embracing those forms enriches life.
How Naming My Bikes Changed My Perspective
Giving my bikes names made me see them as more than tools. It created a bond and a sense of respect for the journeys we take together. Naming Rebel and Revel helped me:
Build a deeper connection with my rides
Celebrate the unique qualities of each bike
Stay motivated to explore new places and push my limits
This practice can inspire others to personalize their gear and find meaning in their adventures.
